The Feeling of Scarcity.
It felt like my mind was running faster than my feet ever could.
I was trying to solve a problem that didn’t exist yet, but I knew was coming. It was December which meant the holidays were near and I needed to have the best gifts to show my family that I loved them. Gifts were their love language and my family is huge. How I wished I had thousands of dollars to show them how much they meant to me. I didn’t; which in my mind turned into the threat of shame. As a response to this threat, my mind raced with worries, problems, solutions, while my body experienced restlessness and exhaustion at the same time.
All I could see was lack:
lack of money
lack of energy
lack of opportunities to get what I believed was essential for my family
lack of opportunities to get what I believed was essential to avoid the feeling of shame.
When Gratitude Doesn’t Cut It.
In times of lack, we give attention to what we don’t have. We kick into survival mode.
This manifests symptoms like:
our minds racing
ceaseless negative chatter
inability to get sleep or getting poor sleep
THE SOLUTION WE SO OFTEN HEAR FOR SHIFTING OUR ATTENTION AND ENERGY FROM LACK TO ABUNDANCE IS GRATITUDE.
But evolutionarily our minds are set up to see lack as a sign of threat and processes this as a need to act to survive. How can gratitude possibly stand a chance against this to bring us back to reality? Here’s the answer, it can’t.
I know this because I tried gratitude during this time and instead of alleviating my anxiety and lack-mindset, it made it worse. My background in neuroscience helped me recognize these triggers activated my fight or flight system. Fight or flight is a neurological response that isn’t going to react to gratitude.
Gratitude isn’t going to help you run from that lion that is threatening your survival. Many gurus will make it seem like lack and abundance mindset are a switch. In truth, they are opposite ends of a spectrum. They are the extremes of a thermometer, and to get from one extreme to the other we must learn to get to neutral.
The Power of Neutral.
Would you put a whole frozen chicken in the oven and expect it to cook well? I doubt it, honey. You need to thaw it out and get it to room temperature before putting it in the oven.
Neutral is our room temperature. It is the midpoint between lack and abundance that unlocks our power to be present, think clearly, and guide our attention effectively. Once I realized this, I have not only wanted to share it with the world, I wanted to provide women with techniques towards getting to neutral.
THINK OF ME AS YOUR GUIDE.
As a leadership and empowerment coach, the intention of my work is to equip you with what you need to reclaim your life and unleash your power.
Thus, The Power of Neutral Workshop was born.
In The Power of Neutral, I want to teach women who
feel challenged by the lack mindset
see themselves in the story I told
feel like gratitude doesn’t quite work for them
how to get to neutral so they can reach abundance.
I will guide you to engaging with neutral, exploring its benefits and leaving you with the ability to get to it on your own, wherever on the thermometer you are. With these tools, we’re not going to be running from lions or threatened by lack anymore, homegirl, we’re going reach neutral and take over the world.
MAY YOU ALWAYS BE EMPOWERED,
